03/03/2015 - Press Release - Ed Miliband’s People’s Question Time
Greg Mountain, Labour Party candidate for Mid Sussex attended Ed Miliband’s People’s Question Time on Monday in Hove. Along with six other Labour candidates from Sussex constituencies Greg was treated to a passionate “One man and his audience” show from the Labour leader.
Taking thirty questions from the audience on a wide range of issues Ed gave a clear view of his vision for Britain. This was a masterly display of a wide range of subjects and also an opportunity for the Labour leader to stress the importance of winning seats in Sussex.
For Greg Mr Miliband’s views on three subjects are key in the Mid Sussex Constituency:
- This election is about aspirations for many, not a privileged few. And Greg stresses the need for Mid Sussex people to recognise that Labour wants a strong economy that is built on skills and enterprise. By providing apprenticeships as well as well paid jobs for graduates the future is one of a skilled work force driving firms to grow and workers who can afford to buy their own homes.
- Labour will repeal the Bedroom Tax. Greg is already campaigning on this and is tackling Mid Sussex Council on the impact it has having on vulnerable social tenants.
- And thirdly transport. The rail service from Mid Sussex stations is recognised as being one of the poorest in the country. In future the aspiration is to make rail provision give better value for money, and that the operators are accountable to the public, not shareholders.
Greg said, “I hope people in Mid Sussex realise that Labour wants to help people and firms achieve their ambitions, we want Mid Sussex to thrive and it is only Labour that aims to help everyone, not just a privileged few achieve their potential”.
